Ferguson says Rooney's Not Going

Sir Alex says that Rooney won't go to the dance.

Terry Butcher feels the same way.

I hate to agree with them, but they have a point.

Butcher points to Beckham as a case study: “Beckham did his metatarsal seven-and-a-half weeks before the World Cup in 2002 and he was miles off the pace in that tournament. You have got to have really fit players out there because the demands on them are extraordinary.”

So will Liverpool's Peter Crouch take his place? Benítez says he can.

Meanwhile Sven-Goran Eriksson will want a second opinion.
