Buffon deal hots up: Arsenal and Man U frontrunners

Apparently Juventus has been spurned by AC Milan in their quest to get Christian Abbiati plus a hefty sum of money for Buffon in exchange. Abbiatio has been offered to Torino. Now Juve wants to see if there are other takers for Buffon. It seems to be a race between Arsenal and Man U.
Buffon is a better fit for Arsenal. Most of the players are young and are from overseas. He’ll live in London, infinitely more cosmopolitan than Manchester. His boss will be Arsene Wenger and not the old codger, Fergie who seems to rub of all his good players the wrong way.
The other player that Arsenal could pick up is Andrea Pirlo. The AC Milan star is not happy with the 15 point handicap that Milan is going to begin the season with. Pirlo will not come cheap and he could cost over 25 million pounds. AC Milan says that they are determined to hold onto all their players for this season. But it will be a coup if Arsenal gets Pirlo. He is far better than Ballack and with Rosicky in the middle, should make life miserable for the rest of the EPL clubs.
The Blues are trying to go for Gianluca Zambrotta in a big way and are willing to cough up plenty of Abramovich’s dough to get him. But reports say that Real has the best chances of getting him.
The Red Devils seem to striking out in their chances of getting an international star. Vieira is more interested in Inter. Fernando Torres wants to stay on at Atletico Madrid. Gennaro Gattuso stays on at AC Milan. Even Kaka was reported to have gotten feelers from Man U but as of this moment he appears ready to continue on with AC Milan.
The Serie firesale is happening right now and there are plenty of developments that will take place in the next week or so.
Update: Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson sign up with Real.

  1. Total Rubbish.
Arsenal are NOT in the market for a keeper.
Wenger has said more times than I care to remember this summer that he is NOT going after any players from the clubs effected by the trial in Italy.
Arsenal can not afford the wages these players would demand.
Pointless article based on no fact at all.

  2. Article is based on nothing, but Wenger’s comments are all gamesmanship. Arsenal has plenty of transfer funds (if you trust Buffon’s agent then we’ve made a substantial offer for him), otherwise why would we have been sniffing around Fernando Torres for so many months? Lehmann is 10 years older than Buffon and could easily return to a German club (most likely Dortmund) as a national hero after the World Cup.
I have a feeling Buffon will be this summer’s version of Robinho and Baptista, but I still think we have a solid chance at him.

  4. There is little money left at Highbury now, indeed, the major factor in letting Sol and Ashlex go is to raise cash to say off the stadium. Paying off debts will be the major focus of the next five years, footballing success is, for the moment, a secondary concern.

  5. Hmm…..Buffon maybe. He’s the best and relatively young. Hvaing said that Arsene’s priorities have to be a centre half and some cover in midfield. But talk of Pirlo is a joke and is baseless. He is going nowhere. And dont we already have a Spanish kid in midfield?

  6. Cesc Fabregas. But Andrea Pirlo would be the best. Which planet do you live on Steve? There is nothing on Buffon on Sky Sports.

  7. Arsenal have been sniffing around Torres? How do you know? That’s just tabloid bull as well.

  8. Arsenal have every chance of getting Buffon although it seems more and more likely that he will stay with Juve and play Serie B. Arsenal will though sign Thuran on a free and I personally think that we will see Lauren play as back up to Gilberto this season.

  9. What makes me chuckle is the comment about Pirlo and Rosicky in the centre. Will we play Reyes and Ljungberg either side? Maybe play Van Persie at left back and Walcott at right back to really try for “Total Football”.
    Who needs to defend!

  10. Did you just wake up and think.. “i had a great dream last time” ill write it on this website and a fairy tale….. wenger would never ever ever pay £25m for a player…. EVER!

  12. Useless bullocks
Pirlo, Buffon, Thuram, Whatever………and to sum it all Frickin comments by the blogger, Rosicky and Pirlo in the middle, with Cesc and Gilberto on the bench…CUNTS

  14. Its like having a dream that you dreamt Pirlo was playing in an Arsenal shirt with Rosicky together……Blogger, nice try, why not open a comic sports blog, where players like, Terry, Ronaldinho, all have signed for arsenal, and Frank (barca coach) is an assistant to wenger.i would gladly be the first to read your comic articles

  15. Guys, I’m not kidding. Arsenal is really interested in Pirlo. They might be able to cough up the cash. Arsenal was able to get the Emirates stadium through raising bonds and projected earnings in the future. Nobody has cash at hand of that kind. Rosicky likes to attack, Pirlo likes to hold. What is the problem? Think of the problems that Ballack and Lamps will have at Chelsea?
    Gunner 23,
Man U’s (not Arsenal’s)deal with Torres fell through.

  16. To: Shourin Roy
Arsenal are not interested in Pirlo.
Whatever you think you have heard, you have heard wrong.
Please note that every single rumour you have heard this summer will not happen.
Have you not noticed, the press and media miss every single real deal that goes through. All they report are rumours that never come to anything.
Arsenal have made one signing this summer and no one in the press saw it coming until the day the deal was done…I think that says it all.

  17. Pirlo is much better than Ballack???!?! I don’t think so mate, Ballack can do everything: 2 good feet, good in the air, excellent long shots, the knack of arriving late to score goals, and works very hard defensively.
No doubt Pirlo is an excellent player, but Ballack is in a different league. Look at the difference between Lampard and Ballack at the world cup – no comparison.
