Guus Hiddink: Not an impressive debut against Croatia

The Roman Abramovich bankrolled Guus Hiddink era began in less than spectacular style as Russia was held to a draw by a decimated Croatia, 0-0.

" As much as six leaders of Croatia’s football, including Darijo Srna, Ivica Olić and Boško Balaban, didn’t play that day because of the wounds, disqualification or dismissal from the team for breaking the discipline. "

I don't know who is editing the English version of Kommersant but I would urge Kia Joorabchian, Boris Berezovsky and Badri Patarkatsishvili to find someone better.

Meanwhile, it is now becoming evident that Guus Hiddink will probably replace Jose Mourinho, when he leaves Stamford Bridge to move onto either coaching the Portugese National Team in time for the 2010 World Cup, a move that will legitimize his standing as a world class coach, and not just a club manager.
