Socceroos in the desert

The Socceroos lost 2 - 0 to Kuwait [ currently ranked 95th in the world ] in an Asian Cup qualifier played in the scorching desert heat of Kuwait City on wednesday.
It was a timely reminder that World Cup glory is a distant memory and conquering Asia will not come quickly or easily for a Socceroos team in transition.
The Socceroos need to qualify through Asia to reach the (2010) World Cup and need to figure out how to beat the heat if they don't want to find the the passage too hot to handle.
"I tell you what, this was a good experience for us," John Aloisi said. "Now we know what it takes to get through to the next World Cup. We have to come to places like this, play in hot conditions, and we're not going to be able to do it by turning up 36 hours before the game and thinking we're going to win."Lesson learned
