Firstly, he is a Canadian; secondly, the announcer on the basketball game the other night was saying this stuff; "he's a soccer player actually" or words to that effect, during an NBA game, he plays pickup or amatuer type games and of course, we know he likes the Spurs; I am sure he is a good player; I guess a better basketball player; I guess, 2 time MVP; thanks for showing us the clip;
Offtopic: Which makes me remember; sorry to run on like this, the guy who invented Scooby Doo (see the Beckham cartoon below) was a Japanese man who was interned in one of the US's concentration camps during World War II; and he recently passed on at 81 years old. He also I believe helped create one of the big animated pictures of the last 20-30 years; you can look that up yourself; or I can find that story I found in a magazine if anyone is interested.

Tom,
His parents are British and he was born in South Africa because his father traveled all over playing soccer. He is a naturalized Canadian because his parents migrated to Canada when he was two.

Martin Nash, Steve's younger brother, is a professional soccer player who also appeared 30 times for Canada's national team. Martin currently plays for the Vancouver [B.C] Whitecaps of the United Soccer League's First Division, which is for all practical purposes, just below MLS.
