VfB Stuttgart are crowned Bundesliga champions
It all came down to the last match. It was a scene reminiscent of the Eredivisie as PSV Eindhoven pipped AZ Alkmaar and Ajax on the last day. To win its first title, Schalke needed an outright win against Armenia Bleifeld and a VfB loss to Energie Cottbus or in the event of a VfB draw with Cottbus, Schalke would have to beat Armenia Bleifeld by four goals.For about nine minutes Schalke were on top of the Bundesliga, as they went up two goals and VfB fell back with a Sergiu Radu strike.
But VfB roared back and equalized through Thomas Hitzlsperger and then took the lead for good through Sami Khedira. It was over for Schalke as they were once again the handmaidens of the Bundesliga.
