Video: Carlos Vela: Arsenal's prodigy returns
Carlos Vela returns to Arsenal this summer after his stint with Salamanca UD in the Spanish second division.. The starlet has been in great nick scoring 6 goals for Salamanca in 10 apperances. Vela led the Mexican team to a memorable 3-0 win over Brazil in the U-17 World Cup last year. His return along with Nicklas Bendtner should see both getting limited first squad minutes.

He'll do.

I thought he'd been denied an exceptional work permit, despit Arsenals represntations and therefore was bound for a second season in Spain but with a top flight team...

The story of Vela is that he did not meet the age requirements expected of non-EU players by Premier League standards and was loaned out to Celta Vigo and thereafter Salamanca. Once he met the age requirements, he would return to Arsenal in the summer of 2007.

He is staying in Spain next season and it'll be his third. He could get a work permit for us next year but that'll still rely on all sorts of conditions. He's satying for another season, with a Primera liga club, so he can get Spanish nationality and therefore will never need a work permit to play for us form 2008 onwards

No, he has confirmed himself that he is having a full season in the Primera Liga. He was always going to be here January 2008 at the earliest!

yes I think its January at the earliest. I think maybe even February. not sure whether thats his birthday or whether its to do with the length of time but its winter he can come here. he will love the English winters after mexico and spain! so we will probably see him at some point next season.

Who's betting that we wont be seeing him again, sounds to me like its another one of wengers "potential superstars", that either never makes the grade or goes elsewhere!

Interesting how my beloved Arsenal gets the most comments on your blog, shourin! :-) Wish we could have Vela right away!

Sandrahn,
Good to know how passionate the Gooners are about their club. As for Vela, the age issue is a sticky one. He has to get a EU passport to play in England. But he is a real talent.

For me as mexican, its an honor have a player like Vela, I wish Arsenal get him soon to give him a chance to show his skills with the gunners.
