Robbie Fowler to Sydney FC?

This is news. Usually it is the Socceroos showing up in the Premiership but Robbie Fowler, the iconic Anfield hero is on a scouting mission to find his new club and is visiting Sydney FC in the Hyundai A-League.

Fowler came back to Liverpool in the middle of the 2005- 2006 season and the Kop saw some vintage Fowler before being released at the end of the 2006-2007 season. In his second stint at Liverpool he became the highest scorer in club history beating King Kenny's record. However, he was part of the old guard and was never going to figure in Rafa's makeover.

It appears that Sydney FC is trying to make the city the main attraction in their bid to woo Fowler. They do have an advantage in terms of the great weather and the lifestyle. Actually, the great weather might be a bit overstated as it was pouring buckets for a week in Sydney just a few days ago. The Hyundai A League is trying to attract big name talent just like the MLS.

Clubs like Cardiff and Leicester are also in the running to get Fowler who at the age of 32 has plenty of great soccer left in him. Cardiff is keen on replacing him as Michael Chopra, their top goalscorer is back in the Premiership with Sunderland.
