Better to be lucky than good...
Few things to note about this game:
• We started the game without our #1 Goalie who’s had a great tourney, he suffered a quadriceps injury at the end of last game. The new goalie is 17yr old Perry from UCLA.
• Altidore (3 goals) our powerfully-built striker was forced out of game in 44th minute with injury
• Uruguay controlled 80 minutes of game, but created few goal-scoring opportunities. USA controlled the match from that point on, including wasting 2 or 3 great chances to pile on the score in Extra-Time.
• In the Uruguayan instigated shoving contest at the end of the match, I enjoyed seeing USA Michael Bradley who was incredibly heated indicate the final score “2-1” with his fingers.
* Bradley might have missed two additional opportunities to score, but he ran tirelessly for 120 minutes, fantastic motor.
