Berlusconi: "Pirlo? Transferable."

The firesale continues at AC. And Silvio Berlusconi has effectively taken over the coaching reins. There is no sign of Leonardo or Adriano Galliani.

Andrea Pirlo is on the transfer block. Massimo Ambrosini might be gone if his year extension is not approved. It gives the impression of a club in serious financial distress as Berlusconi repeatedly stressed the state of club accounts as responsible for the present predicament.

Berlusconi seems to have a preternatural belief in Ronaldinho even as the Brazilian has fallen out of favour with Dunga and the Seleccao seems to be doing well without him. The Milan owner also believes that Pato will eclipse Kaka. He resorts to a prickly defense when asked about his most controversial decision.

"Kaka did not invent the game of football."

It also says much when Berlusconi simple mindedly blames Milan's losses to the inability to hold the ball in the last minutes. Undoubtedly, late goals did not help Milan but there is a growing gap between the club and Inter which cannot just be attributed to a failure of tactics. The club is losing out on valuable talent.

Recent statements by Berlusconi also give the impression of an owner with very little grasp on the club's happenings. He said that Gattuso would be the team's captain apparently forgetting that Ambrosini is next in line. Thiago Silva's signing was news to the owner after the center back arrived from Fluminese.

There is talk about bringing Bundesliga sensation Edin Dzeko and reviving Aly Cissokho's canceled bid. But this maybe more wishful thinking than anything really concrete. With all the news coming out from the San Siro, very little of it positive; Milan's fans are feeling decidedly blue these days.
