Angel Cappa's exciting and attack minded Huracan squad which scored 35 goals in 18 matches lost against a dour Velez Sarsfield led by Ricardo Gareca who won their seventh title and their first in four years.

The match was played at Amilfitani, Velez's homeground where they have been unbeaten. The controversial goal came in the 86th minute after Huracan's goalie Gaston Monzon went for a cross and was knocked over by substitute Joaquin Larrivey. The referee allowed play to continue on. The ball came loose to Maxi Morales who made no mistake. He was then expelled for taking off his shirt in celebration. Earlier, a header by Huracan's defender Eduardo Dominguez was disallowed for a non-existent offside infringement.
