Stade de Gerland, Lyon

One of these clubs will enter the semi-final. The French Ligue has announced its arrival after providing cut rate top talent to the other leagues for years.

They have decided to take care of their own. Lyon managed to lure Lisandro Lopez and Bordeaux drew back Yoann Gourcuff from AC Milan.

Lyon are missing Francois Clerc and Jean Alain Boumsong while Bordeaux is without captain and holding midfielder Alou Diarra out with a suspension.

Lyon obviously with its Real Madrid win should ride the momentum on its back but Bordeaux have proved to be devastating with Gourcuff's set pieces. This should be a fascinating preview into the contours of a new Europe being shaped with this match.
