Video: Totti's brutal kick on Balotelli

88th minute after Rodrigo Taddei brings down Thiago Motta. The Inter midfielder then takes the free kick and passes the ball to Balotelli who runs down the left flank with Totti and Taddei in hot pursuit. See what happens after Balotelli rounds the corner heading towards the Roma goal. Simply shocking.

Totti sought to defend his action a la Zidane claiming it came after an evening of systematic provocation tarnishing the city and people of Rome. He did not name Balotelli. Whether this provocation actually happened on the pitch is subject to conjecture. Whatever the circumstances, his actions reflect poorly on him. One can argue given the stature he enjoys as a talisman of the people and the city of Rome that he and not Balotelli, tarnished the good name of the Romanistas.
