They should have added “In America, we like our commercials, lots of them, about beer, cars, you name it, with a bit of sports action thrown in around them.”
Soccer has not caught on because comerical interests have not figured out how to monetize it. If they did, marketing would follow. Right now, kids like baseball, like I did because it was constantly marketed to us. When would you play the commercials with soccer? In US football, baseball and basketball, the commercial time is presented far more then the game itself. In this regard, look at the difference between the last two minutes of American football and soccer.
