Barca come a cropper against Real Sociedad

Their Champions League encounter might have sucked out all the air but over the weekend Barca blew their chances of sealing the Liga when they fell to stumbling Real Sociedad, 1-2. It started well enough after Thiago put them through collecting a pass meant for Messi and scooped the ball over Claudio Bravo.

But Sociedad struck back in the second half after sub Diego Ifran took advantage of some sloppy defending and was able to put the ball into the net before Jose Pinto could get to it.

The controversial Sergio Busquets and Pinto did not cover themselves in glory in Sociedad's game winning goal. Busquets brought down David Zurutuza as he was cutting into goal and Xabi Prieto's weakly struck penalty was horribly muffed by Pinto. It was a huge moment for the Basque team.
