Only Santos remain in the last eight of the Copa Libertadores as Cruzeiro, Gremio, Fluminese join reigning champions Internacional in failing to advance.

Tim Vickery thinks he knows why this has come to pass. Brazilian clubs have failed to cope with the 4-3-3 system with two wide strikers which have been adopted by their opposition.
