Luis Suarez showed his uncanny ability off the ball and a lethal finishing touch to get both goals.

Peru's goalie Raul Fernandez spilled Diego Forlan's swerving left footed shot straight to Suarez who finished smartly with an angled drive. Minutes later Alvaro Pereira laid it on a thread for the motoring Suarez who beat the offside trap and the onrushing Fernandez to slide the ball home.

Peru's Juan Vargas was given marching orders in the 69th minute after elbowing Sebastian Coates in the face to make it a long evening for Peru.

Uruguay enter the finals for the 21st time. They will be looking to establish a record15th title, one more than Argentina.
