Gervinho provides an instant impact against Koln

Arsenal's first two signings made quite the first impression in the match against Koln. Gervinho for all the right reasons scoring both goals all poacher like to put Arsenal ahead. Lovely bit to finish Wilshere's heads up play and then muscling in Walcott's cross at some physical cost. Really badly needed with all the pointless strolling Arsenal are wont to do in the final third. That he did so without expending his considerable forehead is a remarkable story.

But ...... and there are a number of buts as Carl Jenkinson's own goal amply illustrates when it comes to the defensive end. It's in line with all the boneheaded meltdowns we've had in the past. One loses count. Wenger's reacts with a nonplussed little shake of the head rather than the more flamboyant arm flapping routine reserved for rivals.

I mean how many more signs does he need to sign a proven center back? We're a hard luck team and the chances of shooting ourselves in the foot is more than chance (p <.05).

I love Gervinho!! We could have come to Sevilla last year. I wish he had signed for us, he will be top player in a couple of years.
