The little maestro scored his 232nd, 233rd, and 234th goal to overtake Barca's previous top goalscorer Cesar with 232 goals. CF Grenada who lost 3-5 this evening will forever be associated with this singular honour. Messi has scored 34 goals in 27 matches, two more than Cristiano Ronaldo. He has also scored 54 goals in all competitions which is a Spanish record. What is left to say that has not been said before?

To their credit Granada also created a record becoming the first side to record three goals in at the Nou Camp this season.

With this win, Barca close the gap to five points behind Real who have a game in hand and play Villareal tomorrow.
