So it does appear Prinz Poldi's Arsenal transfer is at an advanced stage but as of now, not yet official. There is the medical and personal terms to work out before he commits. The comforting thing is that his anticipated arrival at the Emirates is not in lieu of an impending RVP departure.

That is according to Arsene Wenger who said Arsenal had no interest in selling RVP even if Poldi joined up.

Wenger said: "Our plan is to keep Robin van Persie even if we buy any player."

His statement came on the heels of Roberto Mancini's reported desire to raid Arsenal this time to add RVP. It was also probably to quell the disquiet felt by many that Poldi's arrival was a precursor to an anticipated move by RVP now one of the most sought after players in the world. The Dutch striker's contract runs out in 2013 and the pressure is on to re-sign him.

Raphael Honigstein talks a bit more about what Podolski brings to the sport.
