Europa Cup QF: Athletic Bilbao edge past Schalke, 2-2 (agg 6-4)

Probably the most entertaining quarter-final on display with a plethora of attack minded players on both sides. Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Raul, Jose Manual Jurado for Schalke while the Basques had Fernando Llorente, Oscar De Marcos, and Iker Munian.

It was Huntelaar in great form this season lashing a shot past Gorka Iraizoz who raised Schalke's hopes for an upset win at San Mames. But Marcelo Bielsa's side who shown a tenacity of purpose to match that creative flair answered back through substitute Ibai Gomez's equally stunning strike. Raul put the Germans ahead one more time but once again Bilbao matched that with a Markel Susaeta goal.

At the end the teams drew 2-2 but Athletic continued their Europa Cup campaign with their superior 6-4 aggregate.
