A penalty miss by Cleiton Xavier in the 64th minute made all the difference to Sporting Lisbon who squeaked out a draw to edge Metalist on aggregate. Metalist were the much better team this evening and Rui Patricio was a busy man under the bar.

However, it was the Portugese side against the run of play going ahead through Rip Van Winkle ..... Ricky Van Wolfswinkel's header. Metalist came back in the second half as Jonathan Cristaldo cut inside to beat Patricio with a belter. But then came Xavier's big muff up and the Ukrainian side ran out of answers.

Sporting now meet Athletic Bilbao while Atletico face Valencia in the penultimate showdown before the Europa Cup finals. If this is not proof of a dominant La Liga, then we have a certificate that shows Balotelli is sane to show to you.
