MLS opening weekend: Timbers exhilarating opener against Red Bulls, 3-3

Mikael Silvestre never inspired any great confidence when at Arsenal. There are some painful highlights of Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba feasting on the slow footed Frenchman. Just as Fabian Espindola did for his brace. He'll probably improve but Timbers fans don't say we didn't warn you.

Jeld Wen stadium was electrifying as over 20,000 fans, a raucous bunch, cheered their side onto a befitting response. The second half was all Timbers as they fought back from a 3-1 deficit with Diego Valeri and Darlington Nagbe leading the way. Valeri on loan from Lanus must have felt right at home because this is the sort of excitement the Liga generates in Argentina. He's come to the right place. Portland is a first rate soccer town.

Red Bulls parked the bus as Timbers ran up the stats and quality. In hindsight, the NY team should consider themselves lucky escaping with a draw.
