Suarez’ initial four month ban was downgraded by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week. They court ruled that Suarez would be allowed to practice and play in non-competitive friendlies – so at 7.51pm local time Suarez came on the field as a late sub during Barcelona’s traditional season opener, the Gamper Trophy against Mexican side Club León.
The score was 4 – 0 at that stage.
It was 5-0 moments later and Sandro added another just before the final whistle.
Suarez meanwhile will have to wait till the 26th of October before he can get his teeth into competitive football football again…..!
