Zidane’s questionable coaching credentials could hurt an already hurting Real Madrid

Real Madrid v Atletico de Madrid - UEFA Champions League Final
Zidane could be butting heads with the Liga’s Competition Committee

Zinedine Zidane, post retirement has found a home in Real Madrid, first as sporting director, then last season as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant and finally, as head coach of its B team, Real Madrid Castilla. The last part has landed him and the club in hot water. He doesn’t possess the necessary qualifications to coach and it appears the league’s Competition Committee has taken a very dim view launching an investigation following up on the original complaint filed by the National Coaches Training Centre (CENAFE).

Article 104 clearly states that such violations can be punished with bans ranging from 4 to 20 games or one to six months. Zidane was the de facto head coach as alleged by CENAFE’s Miguel Galan in his complaint following a match played against Atletico Madrid’s B side. By the way, Real Madrid’s website couldn’t be more explicit.

Looks like Atletico really has it in for their galactico city rivals. We will keep any eye out for further developments. Looks like Real might have to exert its fullest extent of political patronage.
