Atletico de Kolkata and Mumbai FC played the opening fixture at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata which was filled to the brim with about 70,000 football crazy fans.
The first game of the new Indian Super League which is going to make the sleeping giant of Indian Football wake and live happily ever afterwards was a pretty one sided affair.
It was Kolkata all the way.
Fikru Teferra (plays for the Ethiopian national team ) struck the first goal of ISL.
Borja Fernandez’s (played for Spain’s Celta de Vigo B ) scored the best goal of the game – a super volley from the edge of the box ….

Substitute Arnal Llibert scored the last goal in injury time to complete the 3 – 0 drubbing.

Mumbai FC had to play without their star attraction Nicolas Anelka .
He  is still under a global ban for his ‘quenelle’ gesture while  playing for West Brom last season. The responsibility of making sure that the English FA’s ban was implemented automatically passed on to the football body he would next play under — in this case, the All India Football Federation.
