Steven Gerrard’s final appearance as a Liverpool player against Manchester United lasted just 38 seconds.
He was given a straight red for a stamp on Ander Herrera in his first contribution to the game that United were winning 1- 0 at that stage.
Juan Mata added a superb scissor kicked goal to United’s tally second shortly afterwards.
Liverpool pulled one back but with one player less they had no way of catching United after that.
