FIFA hits new low: Jack Warner investigated for appropriating Haiti Earthquake money for personal gain

“About that money, Jack, do you want it to be called legacy or infrastructure?”

Sepp Blatter is going to rue the day Jack Warner was made CONCACAF president and became his trusted sidekick. How low can this man go? The BBC is reporting Jack Warner is being investigated by the FBI for diverting $750,000 that he helped raise from FIFA and the Korean FA in 2012 for the Haiti Earthquake relief to his personal account. The money disappeared and still remains untraceable after four years.

Just when you though arm sales (RPGs) personally approved by Gerhard Schroeder as a bribe to Saudi Arabia for their 2006 World Cup vote to Germany was bad enough. Now, the misery and suffering of thousands in Haiti, a fellow CONCACAF nation, falling prey to Warner’s greed and desire for personal profit.

Warner is already in hot water for a $10m payment made into his account by the South African FA to get his vote for their successful 2010 World Cup vote. That was money ostensibly going towards a legacy program developing Caribbean football widely perceived as a bribe. FIFA denies facilitating that transaction, a claim undermined by letter now published written by the organization’s secretary general Jerome Valcke which detailed the transaction as “money transferred to the FIFA account in Zurich for FIFA to administer.”

As these investigations reveal FIFA is nominally an organization administering international football. In other respects it is a front for gun runners and money launderers.
