US women to be feted by Canyon of Hero(in)es parade through Manhattan

On Tuesday, a very cool looking Abby Wambach in shades led the US women as they rocked LA with “I believe we just won”

More accolades. New York is pulling out the stops to celebrate Carli Lloyd and the US squad’s World Cup win with their own parade this Friday in downtown Manhattan in all too rare honour. What a grand gesture! This is the first time for a women’s sports team. The last woman to be so honoured for her sporting accomplishment, ice skating champion Carol Heiss, a NY native in 1960. The Canyon of Heroes parade is now almost exclusively reserved for NY sports teams victors (here’s looking at you NYRB and NYCFC) but with Carli Lloyd and Christine Rampone, NJ residents we can claim to be part of the bridge and tunnel crowd for a little while at least, eh!

East Coasters show your love and respect for America’s heroines by showing up. Here’s more information on the parade.
