Wayne Rooney’s hat trick powers Man Utd to Champions League spot over Brugge 4-0 (agg7-1)

Wayne Rooney was a happy camper. The Belgian club were battered and brugged. Not withstanding their injury record, they proved to be very obliging opponents. Rooney scored his first goal in 10 matches and it was set up by Memphis Depay’s quick feet and neatly done outlet. There was no stopping Utd after that with Anders Herrera overcoming an uncertain and error prone initial passage to take command of the match as the undisputed no 10. Rooney claimed two more strikes and Herrera added another.

In a bit of comic relief, Javier Hernandez slipped on a penalty kick and send the ball wide. But Utd had booked their CL spot quite sometime ago there was minimal teeth gnashing.
