Liverpool has missed the chance to close in on the Premier League’s top four after suffering a shock 2-0 defeat to lowly Newcastle United at St James’ Park.Newcastle opened the scoring in the middle of the second half when a Georginio Wijnaldum shot was deflected past Simon Mignolet by Martin Skrtel.
Martin now has the dubious distinction of being the joint top scorer of own goals scored in the Premier League era.
There was a bit of late drama when Alberto Moreno looked to have secured at least a point for Liverpool with a glorious chipped finish over Rob Elliot with about 7 minutes left in the game.
However it was wrongly ruled offside and this is what Klopp had to say about that decision afterwards.
