Manchester United got their first win in nine games when Rooney scored the winner in the 77th minute against Swansea.
That became his 238th for the club an new Manchester United landmark.
Val Gaal was generally delighted with winning at last for a change and said
“Passing Denis Law’s scoring record is a fantastic achievement.For me it was more important for someone to score today. It was a great goal, though, with his left foot behind his right foot you cannot imagine what a goal that is. And it came at the right moment, I think. I hope it can be a new starting point for us.”
So Manchester United have started the new year on a happy note.
