Renato Júnior Luz Sanches became the youngest player to represent Portugal in an international game – beating Ronaldo’s record ( He started at 19).
He also became the youngest player to score a goal in a knockout game in the Euro Championship.
He also scored a goal before half time which cancelled Lewandowski’s early strike and levelled scores – which then stayed level till the end.
Portugal beat Poland 5 – 3 in the ensuing shootout and live on….
Ronaldo didn’t have much of a game – but when he scored the first penalty he took his tally to 8 goals- which means that if he scores in the semi finals he will equal Platini’s record.
So that’s something else to look forward to.
