French Ligue 1 club OGC Nice will pay tribute to the ’85 victims of July’s terrorist attack in the Riviera city by playing in a special kit in Sunday’s season opener against Rennes.
Nice will change its traditional red and black colors for a white strip, with the logo of a heart made up of the names of the 85 people who died in the tragedy replacing the usual sponsor logo.
Before kickoff a minutes silence will be held in memory of those who died.
The club released a statement saying
“An individual tribute will be paid to each of the 85 victims.Nothing will ever be the same, but we need to get back on our feet. The victims’ names will be read aloud while young players from the club release white balloons.
All fans have been asked to wear white, while all players and match officials will wear a white T-shirt during the warm-up.
And so it goes on
