Rooney,who had been tottering on the brink of equaling Sir Bobby’s record of 249 for a while now,finally achieved the historic landmark yesterday.
He opened the scoring in United’s 4 – 0 FA cup win over Reading yesterday.
Both Sir Bobby Charlton and Fergie were present to witness and applaud Rooney’s moment of glory.His 249 goals came in 543 games and he reached the milestone mark 215 matches and four seasons quicker than Sir Charlton.
