The Qatar’s national team could face disciplinary action for breaking the rule regarding making any kind of political statements during an official game.
They wore T Shirts bearing the portrait of their embattled Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani as they warmed up for their qualifying game against South Korea.
The T-shirt was also waved around a bit by midfielder Hasan Al-Haydos after he scored the first goal.
Qatar won the game 3 – 2 but the long arm of the FIFA law might get them yet.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino had earlier said that football’s governing body does “not interfere in geopolitics” and while reiterating his support for the 2022 tournament going ahead in Qatar.
