Nice dive by Ronaldo in the final minute - isn't simulation a bookable offence?

I don't get it. Wasn't there a French player offside (the one on the goalie's right) when Zidane initiated that free kick in the 57th minute?
Why didn't Brazil whine about that? Is it that it was not offside because the player wasn't "in the way" of any of the relevant defenders?

And why did Brazil put only three guys down there to defend? And why did they just stand there bewildered and fail to mark any of the French players? Henry was alone out there!

It all seems strange to me.

That said, the goal was a beauty. And Zidane's graceful play was sublime.
