Ferguson fiddles while Rome burns

Plenty of anger in Rome over Manchester United’s decision to write to their fans, warning them of the “real danger” of being attacked by Roma’s “Ultras”, and advising them of several areas in the city centre they should keep away from. Alex Ferguson said the warning was normal. “We always do it before every (European) match,” he said. “I don’t anticipate any problems.”
Rome prefect Achille Serra had a different opinion. “There’s no doubt that there has always been difficulty maintaining public order and security between English and Italian teams, but it’s expected of all of us to calm the tensions.A letter like that works to the contrary, excites tensions and risks provoking incidents.”

One comment on “Ferguson fiddles while Rome burns
  1. Liverpool look set to win another Euro ;what would one prefer, EPL title, FA Cup, Carling Cup or the Euro Cup?? and I said too, C. Blanco might sign with a USA team; Chicago Fire here he comes; might be a good home for him, good soccer in the summer.
