Freddy Adu to Benfica?

It seems the buzz is that MLS is willing to trade Freddy Adu for $7.5 million to Benfica. Adu has done very little of note at RSL since he joined and seems to be biding his time at the club for the big time. Adu has scored exactly one goal in 11 matches in a team that is at the bottom of the Western division. In fact, the U20 World Cup came along at the right time for Adu to showcase his talent.

But $7.5million? Does Benfica have the kind of money to pay for a player that Sir Alex hinted very gently, has some ways to go. Oscar Cardozo signed recently became the most expensive striker in Benfica history for 9 million euros ($12 million). And Cardozo was a star in the Argentinian league for Newell's Old Boys scoring 22 goals in 33 matches with international experience as a Paraguay senior squad member. At 24 years he is considerably older than Freddy Adu. For the record Simao Sabroso is the most expensive Benfica player and 13 million euros ($17.5 million) were paid for his services.

Benfica maybe interested but not at this price.

Adu belongs to benfica for the next 5 years. He's a talented player, but Di maria and Fabio Coentrao-2 great players- signed as well, so we'll see Adu on the bench all season. ADU #30

i would go for that kind of money

your numbers are wrong. Benfica and Real Salt Lake have already come to terms for Adu's transfer for 2 million euros (approx.
$2.7 million USD). Benfica and Adu are now discussion contract terms

this guy is very talented and will be able to all the wonders benfica needs. He plyed well for his country
