Al Ahly's Aboutrika: Their heart and soul

Al Ahly, the club that has done more to put Africans playing in Africa in the limelight is on track to claim their third CAF title in a row.

They scored an emphatic win over Tunisia's Esperance, 3-0 winning through an opening goal by the wonderful Mohammed Aboutreika, who continues to impress, even as he spurns the overtures of bigger European leagues which have seen fellow Egyptians, Mido, Mohammad Zidan, and Hossam Ghaly, crossing over.

Aboutrika was the nominee for the 2006 African player of the year and lost to Didier Drogba, in a nomination process that appears loaded in favour of the more high flying European leagues.
