It begins on 1 September 1996 with New England coach Glenn Hoddle giving a fresh-faced Beckham his first cap in a World Cup qualifier against Moldova and ends with the latest twist in the saga - Beckham being recalled to the England squad for the friendly against France in Paris on 26 March.
