This promises to be a great way to catch up on movies about the beautiful game.

It is the inaugural Kicking and Screening festival which runs from July 14-18 in NYC at different venues.

The movies including Once In A Lifetime, about the heady days of the Cosmos led by Pele, Beckenbauer, and Giorgio Chinaglia in the New York of Studio 54 and CBGBs. The movie will be introduced by Shep Messing, the Cosmos goalie.

There is also a movie about the 1998 French squad that won the World Cup; yet another one follows five Maradona fans who travel from London to Buenos Aires to meet their idol. We also learn how Barca was able to remake itself into the remarkable success it is today.

The festival features a panel discussion on Beckham's MLS impact as he returns for his first match with the Galaxy following his Milan stint. Fans will be invited to watch the Galaxy play the Red Bulls. Less than two years ago, 66,000 fans packed Giants Stadium and saw Beckham star in a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Red Bulls.

For more information about the schedule and tickets, you can go to their website kickingandscreening.com The organizers are thinking of extending K&S to Brazil and SA. Which will be very cool.
