Xabi Alonso must be a big fan of Le Couperet.

Costa -Gavras's dark comedy is the story of a laid off executive driven to desperation to find a job, who is finally forced to take matters into his hands by literally killing off the competition. The movie was released as Arcadia in Spain.

Well, he has done it again hacking down Cesc Fabregas at a training session and injuring his left knee. This means that Cesc will not start in the Spain vs Iraq encounter. Nothing so serious as when Alonso crocked Fabregas at Anfield last December with a sliding tackle that ruptured his knee ligaments. It sidelined Fabregas for four months.

Alonso has lived in the shadow of Xavi, Iniesta, and Fabregas for a while. He picks up sporadic national duty because of injuries to the Spanish midfield. With Cesc's injury he will start the match against Iraq in the Confederations Cup.
