The late introduction of Benny Feilhaber made all the difference as he began the move that led to Santino Quaranta's first international goal in the 75th minute. Four minutes later Feilhaber's quickly taken free kick found an open Steve Cherundolo. The right back swung a cross into the box and Brian Ching headed the ball in for the second goal.
The US now meet Haiti in their final group encounter and a draw will assure them of passage to the quarterfinals.
