Spurs teenager holds off mighty Barcelona

Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore denied Barca a winning start to their Wembley Cup campaign. The cup in question has been described as “a trophy nobody has won before and which may never be won again after the tournament ends on Sunday.“.The teams involved are Celtic,Barcelona,Tottenham and Al Ahly. The Barcelona team that drew against the Spurs was not so mighty actually as most of the big names like Messi etc were not playing. Celtic hammered Al Ahly 5 – 0 in their opening game – the video of which can be seen here

Barcelona may also be heading off to sea in the new future. This is a cryptic way of saying that an architect called Emili Vidal has laid out ambitious plans to build the European champions a new arena that would stun the world of football and change the face of the Blaugrana. He proposes a 150,000-capacity stadium on an island off the coast of the Catalan capital.Pictures of the grand vision here..

  1. Spurs did not play mighty Barcelona. The Guardian reports that only Yaya Toure played from the first string Barcelona team. The rest of the team in the first half compromised the Barcelona B team. In the second half, all 11 were substituted and Barcelona C were brought on to the pitch. The headline should have read, “Spurs practically strung out by glorious Barcelona’s second and third stringers.”

  2. It’s one of those headlines that flatters to deceive..!
Actually the fact that Barcelona were a pale shadow of themselves does get mention a little further on.
