Actually the fact that Barcelona were a pale shadow of themselves does get mention a little further on.
Spurs did not play mighty Barcelona. The Guardian reports that only Yaya Toure played from the first string Barcelona team. The rest of the team in the first half compromised the Barcelona B team. In the second half, all 11 were substituted and Barcelona C were brought on to the pitch. The headline should have read, "Spurs practically strung out by glorious Barcelona's second and third stringers."
