Matthaus last minute rejection of the Racing Santander job has the club gnashing their teeth. He was supposed to have arrived today to take over the coaching job and help out the beleaguered club but he texted the club saying the deal was off.

Looks like the peripatetic coach developed itchy feet.

Former Paraguayan national team coach Sergio Markarian has been offered the job.

The German newspapers wrote the same about his refusal. Matthaeus texted the club his refusal. But they also wrote that Racing didn't or couldn't confirm a bank guarantee for his salary. I still think he is a good coach, but it will be hard for him to find a good club.
