Real Madrid crisis: Pellegrini gets two more matches

Manuel Pellegrini’s coaching career at Real is in danger. The shocking defeat at the hands of lowly Alcorcon has sent shock waves through the echelons of the most decorated football club in the world.
Jorge Valdano and Florentino Perez have given the Chilean the Getafe match this weekend and the return match against Milan in the Champions League next week to prove himself. If he fails, he is out. The Spanish media has already pinned the blame on Pellegrini for the club’s failure to win and want him out. Perez is untouchable as he has performed his job and brought the Galacticos for the second time to Madrid.
Possible replacements are Valdano himself. There is some buzz that Raul could also be drafted as player manager. But Real’s list of managers have shrunk. Vicente Del Bosque, Fabio Capello, and Bernd Schuster, were all treated dismissed by the club after winning them them the Liga. And in the summer, the club signed Pellegrini after Wenger, Mourinho, and Ancelotti turned down the Real job.
In a dangerous sign of how dependent a club can get on one player, Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury will extend another week which means he misses Getafe and the CL return leg at Milan. The club won seven matches with him present. Since his injury, they have suffered three losses.
