Georgios Samaras beautiful pass sets up Greece’s winner


Before Adebayor, Robinho and the other eight strikers at City, there used to be Georgios Samaras. Although highly touted by Stuart Pearce, he failed to make an impact in the two years while at the club.
When Sven Goran Ericksson was made manager Samaras was confined mostly to the bench. He transferred to Celtics last year and has finally found success, scoring some very important goals. Yesterday, he turned goal provider, setting up Dimitris Salpigidis cool finish with this delicious pass that split the Ukraine.
Otto Rehhagel’s boys may not play the most beautiful football but their lack of big name players and patient style can lull you into complacency. Ukraine becomes one more nation to find out to their detriment.
