Paul Hart dismissed: Avram Grant to manage Pompey?

Avram Grant was the technical director at Portsmouth when he was hired by Roman Abramovich in 2007 as Chelsea's director of football. A few months later, Jose Mourinho was sacked and Grant was named Chelsea's manager.

In his return, he was appointed by Portsmouth as director of football in October 2009, and within a month is a frontrunner to succeed Phil Hart who was given his marching orders.

Grant's appointments as director of football are proving to be the death rattle of his club managers.

One feels bad for Paul Hart who strived to do the best he could do with a weakened squad. His tenacity earned the respect of his players and the fans. It looks like the Portsmouth board pulled the rig under him when he least expected it. This will prove to be an unpopular move.
