Ben Foster won't be the one to say, "I tello so." Besiktas continued the theme of the underdog shocking the top dog as Man Utd were undone at home for the first time in eight years at Old Trafford in CL competition in the group stage. The last team to do so was Deportivo La Coruna in 2001.
Besiktas hero was Rodrigo Tello who hoisted a speculative long range bomb which deflected off Rafael enough to fortuitously alter the trajectory of the ball and strand Ben Foster in goal. Sir Alex played his B squad with Gabriel Obertan, Kiki Macheda, and Danny Welbeck. So even as we take nothing away from Besiktas historic win, we have to put this match in perspective.
This loss does not do anything to dampen Man Utd's CL aspirations as they had already qualified for the knockout stage.
